I Hope You Dance!

When I first ran across this opportunity I was literally thinking Lee Ann Womack! I think we should ALL dance!!   Well, not all dancers are professionals though they may still have talent. Also this would not be a job you’d probably do online!

I’ve always loved/admired dancers! Many of the videos I share on my social networks are dancing videos. I was actually thinking of changing my ‘funny videos’ page to ‘dancing videos’ because I absolutely love it! So if you are not a talented dancer, this post is probably not for you.  Feel free to share it with friends and family who may be dancers or looking for dancing gigs!

What skills/training is needed to become a dancer?

Most dancers start their training before adolescence and audition for full-time work by the age of 18. Even after a dancer finds employment, training must continue throughout the dancer’s entire career. Many students attend dance training programs in their teens. Private dance or performing arts schools and colleges can provide the experience needed to join a professional dance company. Study.

How much do dancers earn?

Salary and Qualifications. Most ballet dancers get paid each week, although they don’t usually dance 52 weeks per year. They earned average annual salaries of $24,000 as of 2013, according to the job website Indeed. Chron. Pay does fluctuate depending on which area of the world you live in.

What does the future look like for dancers?

According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics: Employment of dancers and choreographers is projected to grow 5 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. A growing interest in dance and in pop culture may provide opportunities in dance schools and in fields outside of dance companies. However, dancers and choreographers face intense competition, and the number of applicants is expected to vastly exceed the number of job openings.

If we think about it competition is fierce in every category, not just dance! There are billions of people on the Earth! Lol Don’t allow competition to deter you: many obstacles we encounter make us stronger/smarter individuals. I always say if you’re afraid of a little competition, you shouldn’t be in the game! Unless you’ve created something that no one else knows how to do, you will have competition, and be required to give your best you for a spot!

Concluding Thoughts: Dancers are artists, dancers are entertainers, and dancers are admired. The future seems bright for those who choose to pursue it as a career choice. There is fierce competition in the industry so just like with most jobs, you must always bring your ‘A’ game! Much success!
