Jingle Singers And Writers

Jingles are what help us remember businesses and brands. “The best part of waking up, is Folgers in your cup”. Jingles stay with us and often we sing along even when we don’t intend to. Lol  The toon sticks and you may end up humming or singing it for awhile, or at least until you hear another one. Lol

Are you the next Jingle Dynamo? Have you re-written or re-mixed current Jingles to sound more hip or change the sound altogether? I know there are always countless challenges on social media to rap or change up a song with your own lyrics. There are companies online (and probably some near you) that look for Jingle Writers and those who can sing to be the voice behind the Jingle.

What do Jingle Writers do?

“A Jingle Writer creates music and lyrics to accompany a television or radio advertisement. As a Jingle Writer, you must be able to compose a catchy tune that emphasizes the selling points of your client’s product. You can work freelance or have your own company.” (Inside Jobs)

The jobs listed do not really require much experience, but you will have to know how to write and/or sing to be considered, I’m sure. I located a video for those of you interested in the field, to get a closer look at a few ways to start and methods to create memorable Jingles.

Now that you have seen a bit inside, is it still interesting? If so, let’s investigate further. I discovered as previously mentioned that not much experience is often needed, although writing and or singing is required to be successful.

What do Jingle Writers earn?

“The Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn’t classify jingle writers directly but lists composers within the arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media occupations specialty. Their median reported income was $42,870 as of May 2010. The lowest 10 percent of the composers group earned less than $21,720 a year, while the top 10 percent of wage earners made more that $85,020 annually.” Chron.

What does the future hold for Jingle Writers?

“The BLS predicts a growth of 10 percent for all music directors and composers between the years 2010 to 2020, which is less than a growth prediction of 14 percent for all other occupations. The BLS indicates, however that there will likely be a greater need for all composers, especially for jingle writers.” Chron.

Concluding Thoughts: Jingle Singers and Writers are on the rise, according to the BLS. There is not much training a person would need (though writing and-or singing is a requirement) to be considered a candidate. It seems to be an exciting, fun, method to create income. Much success in your endeavors!

  1. Thanks for this Audra. This is a great summary of a field I would not have thought about for a computer-based home business. And it’s something I think I could do – based on your post. I particularly liked the embedded Youtube video – it makes me feel like it’s possible, with all the different types of “jingles” there are, that I can do this. From home with my computer. I also liked the wealth of getting-started sorts of links you provided.
Very helpful for me – and very timely.
    Thank you.
